2010 Sermon Schedule |
|
| August 29 |
Topic: "How to Be a Christian and Enjoy It"
Text: Philippians 4:4, John 15:11
Scripture Reading: Philippians 4:4-13
Focus: This topic raises a lot of questions for most of us. What does it mean to be a Christian and enjoy life? Does it mean that Christians can never be sad, or blue, or upset? Does our faith enable us - or hinder us - in finding joy? Does our religion give more reasons/freedom to enjoy life and truly be happy? Or does it confine and limit us; making life miserable and desolate? |
|
| Sept 5 |
Topic: "The Danger of Partiality"
Text: James 2:1, 6
Scripture Reading: James 2:1-12
Focus: Scripture considers partiality/favoritism in any form, of any kind, in any situation, a sin. Christians - and the church - must always guard against it. |
|
| Sept 12 |
Pastor Ross will be on vacation Sept 6th - 16th |
|
| Sept 19 |
Topic: "Who Will Answer the Call" Bethany Seminary Sunday
Text: Acts 6:3, Romans 10:15
Scripture Reading: Acts 6:1-7; Romans 10:15:3-17
Focus: Leadership is essential and indispensable to the work and ministry of the church. With whom does the responsibility rest for calling - and training - persons to positions of leadership? |
|
| Sept 26 |
Topic: "Waiting it out"
Text: Psalm 40:1; Acts 1:4; Galatians 4:4
Scripture Reading: Psalm 4:1-3; Acts 1:1-5; Galatians 4:1-7
Focus: At times situations and conditions call for action. At other times, the best alternative is to do nothing and wait. The difficulty is knowing the difference. |
|
| Oct 3 |
Topic: "Stardom vs. Servanthood" (Worldwide Communion Sunday)
Text: Matthew 4:5; Mark 8:35
Scripture Reading: Matthew 4:1-11; Mark 8:31-38
Focus: All Christians are tempted/tested. As we prepare to gather at the Lord's table we need to examine our hearts so that we can recognize and confess the times we have failed to resist the "tempter's snare." We learn some important lesson from Jesus' experience in the wilderness. |
